Not Your Battle

15 And he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s. (2 Chronicles 20:15 ESV)

We are creatures of pride and in that pride we feel like we have to fight every battle. Do we ever sit back and simply pray and praise God as if the battle is already won?

In our scripture today the Israelites were facing three armies that had come to wipe them off the face of the earth. And they had the numbers to do it, a great horde in our scripture or great multitude in some translations. But before the day was over the three armies had attacked each other and there was not a man left standing, just a field of corpses.

And what did the Israelites do? They simply all raised their faces to God in praise and God won the battle for them. The power of God reflected in the response to an entire nation praising Him. Can you imagine?

Reflect on: Are you letting God fight your battles or are you, in your pride, trying to do it all yourself?
