1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace[a] with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 We have also obtained access through him by faith[b] into this grace in which we stand, and we boast[c] in the hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:1-2 CSB)
Everything comes back to God’s mercy, grace and salvation. There is nothing at all we can do to gain our salvation. No works, not attitude, no perfecting of self, no act of personal salvation at all. Everything comes back to having faith in and peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is really important. There are so may out there that think, because they are good they will go to heaven. But without the knowledge of and faith in Christ that will not happen. No amount of “goodness” will save us. We must seek that personal relationship with Christ that recognizes our sinful life without Him, accepts He died and rose again and accepts that His blood sacrifice is where our salvation resides.
Once this has been accepted we obtain access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
One way, through Christ, understanding our limits.
When we recognize our brokenness and our inability to do anything for ourselves we begin to see why Christ sacrifice was so important. We are slaves to sin without Him. We cannot lift a finger to create or improve our chances at salvation. But God provides it freely through Christ.
The beauty of this relationship with God is that we then know that we can rely upon Him fully. Yes, there is much we can do once we come to faith that God desires. But we must understand the limits of our actions when it comes to salvation.
