SME

6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He stores up success[a] for the upright;
He is a shield for those who live with integrity. (Proverbs 2:6-7 CSB)

I am not always the sharpest knife in the drawer. Yes, I can say this in all honesty. I have often said that, in my technical job, if I am the smartest guy in the room we have a problem. This, because I tend run technical departments that require a lot of different types of technical knowledge and understanding. Trying to know everything typically means we know very little about anything.

So I rely upon being surrounded by a lot of knowledgeable people who are subject matter experts (SME). Now, does this mean I know nothing? No, I am a good strategic leader who knows how to leverage people’s skills. Where I am weak they are strong. I have learned to rely upon God to provide wisdom in between, and He has been faithful to do so in my life.

God does give wisdom, knowledge and understanding if we trust in His provision. Sometimes this comes in the way of pointing out research we need to do. Other times He provides insights, and others He provides the right contact to gain a better knowledge or understanding of a topic. I have come to rely upon this in by my personal and business life. Thus, I am willing to take on things that I am not 100% knowledgeable about and God has given me success in doing so through trusting Him.

I am not necessarily an SME in every given thing, but God has provided. God does so in my spiritual life too. He gives me insight and helps me understand His way in my life.
