Later is Now

27 When it is in your power,[a]
don’t withhold good from the one to whom it belongs.
28 Don’t say to your neighbor, “Go away! Come back later.
I’ll give it tomorrow”—when it is there with you. (Proverbs 3:27-28 CSB)

We all lead very busy lives. Taking time for one another can feel like a burden at first, but when we do we both reap the rewards.

You see, we can view time kept to our self as its own reward. Looking at it like that time is valuable to us and we really do not have time in our busy schedule to take out for another. But we are cheating ourselves. God puts divine appointments in our path on a regular basis, if we are only open to them. In truth, many times, these appointments are as much or more for us than they are for another.

Additionally, we often have the ability to enrich or empower another’s life through things we have the power to provide. As in the above this could be the gift of time, or a gift from our treasure or it could be using our God given talents for others. I have said before that it took me a long time to see writing as a God given talent. Today, after having written so many devotionals, I see this as a driving force in my life that benefits myself and others.

We should not hold back on doing good for others. No matter what God has set before you to do for another, or others in general, we must make time. You cannot imagine just how often people are crying out for help, if we would only slow down a moment and listen.

We must not put off till later what God wants us to do now!
