Truly Great

16 Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you;
let those who love your salvation continually say,
“The Lord is great!” (Psalms 40:16 CSB)

Honestly, how often do you think, “The Lord is truly great!”

This praise to the Lord should be as unbidden to our lips as any other prayer. It should flow from us regularly, considering all the Lord has done for us throughout our lives. However, our prayers I would bet more often tend toward us rather than the greatness of God.

With so much negativity that can seep into our lives daily, we need to offset this with regular praise about the greatness of our God. We need to recognize all He has done in our lives and we need to probe ourselves to make sure we believe in His greatness.

The Lord is perfect in every way and His provision for us is there for the asking and the taking. He is not a Father who withholds from His children, but one who gives freely. But are we being selfish and headstrong children who do not value their parents until well after they are no more? Do we only seek God when we have fallen and been hurt in some way? The Father wishes for more in our relationship. He seeks intimacy. He seeks our joy and our love.

We need to recognize just how great is our Father and how wonderful it is to have Him in our lives. Always there. Always listening. Always responding, even when we are selfish.
