6 Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in[a] the house of the Lord
as long as I live. (Psalms 23:6 CSB)
Do you ever consider how God pursues you, desiring goodness and faithful love for you and your life?
It could be that you feel like you are fighting against the world and are doing so alone. But it could be that it is you are simply allowing the enemy to make you forget the type of life God has planned. Maybe it could be that you are not dwelling in the house of the Lord.
We need to spend quiet time in solitude with God if we hope to have a life that is filled with the goodness God desires. Dwelling here gives our head and our heart a chance to put aside the schemes of the enemy and to reset our focus. This is especially important on Sunday to allow us to give up the troubles of the past week and set our minds on higher plans for the coming week. But truly, a daily regimen of finding time for God’s solitude provides us greater ongoing peace.
I find when I go too many days without God’s solitude my mind becomes cluttered with all the noise of the world. Once that happens I need to set time aside, pull out my Bible and reset my focus and cleanse my heart. In fact taking the time to do this allows me to breathe. I too often find that I have been metaphorically holding my breath and really not expelling the contamination the enemy and the world throw at me.
I must make time to be in the house.
