15 But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ. (Ephesians 4:14 CSB)
We should live a life that is marked by growth in every way. When we stop learning we stop growing. This is evident in our youth, but becomes less so as we grow older. Age is not, necessarily, a marker of wisdom and it is definitely not a marker of completion. It is simply a number that increases yearly and we must ask ourselves if we are aging well with it?
Much of what we call wisdom is really just the knowledge to do something. It may revolve around our careers, or the growth of our family. It may be built from a life of adversity, one that requires we continually work hard for what we have. In fact a hard life often creates the wisest person. One learns to live through adversity and if they come to faith early enough, they learn to live through it knowing that God is by their side.
We need to live a life marked by continual growth. One that is not capped by age, success or failure, but one that points ever upward. A life that is lived for Christ, bathed in prayer and one where success is marked by more than status and money. This is true growth.
