How Can They Hear…

14 How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14 CSB)

I have preached, but have never considered myself a preacher. I have taught, but never considered myself a teacher. However, others may have seen me as each at one time or another. And, to be sure, God puts us all in preacher and teacher roles at times in our lives. He wants nothing more than for us to have within us the capabilities to fulfill the roles He puts before. And it is a true statement that He prepares those He sends.

In how many avenues of life could you have been a preacher or teacher that you maybe missed the opportunity? Remember too what Francis of Assisi said, “Preach the Word always, use words when necessary.” The teaching and preaching we do may be being done more though our actions than our words. We should look at every interaction in life as a potential for opening others lives to God’s loving path.

I often wonder about these messages regarding how God expects us to further the Kingdom in our lifetime. How much of this messages falls on deaf ears? Who really practices teaching and preaching without words? How are we reaching others for Christ and putting God’s message out into the world? Are we all fulfilling the Great Commission?

If you cannot pinpoint where in your life you are doing this, maybe it is time for a change.
