Choose Kindness

32 And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you[a] in Christ. (Ephesians 4:32 CSB)

We have a choice each moment of each day to choose kindness in our interaction with others. No, it is not always easy. It may even require you to swallow your pride, your anger or even your desire to throttle someone who is being less than kind to us. But I know one thing, people simply do not know how to handle kindness when they are being rude.

Proverbs 15:1 says “a soft word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

When we choose kindness over harshness we find that it also softens us. It provides space for God to work within ourselves and others. This choice is something that we can foster within ourselves in building a faith that stands more upon allowing God to act on our behalf that we choose to react in our flesh. We are, in effect, choosing a spiritual response over a response of our human nature.

I have mentioned before a good friend who always said “Just be kind” and I like to think this is how I try to approach life now.
