Live and Move

28 For in him we live and move and have our being, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’ (Acts 17:28 CSB)

For in Him we live and move and have our being.

Ponder that statement. Really take a moment and consider what that means to you.

It should regulate and govern our actions. We are God’s offspring. It can be said that we are the “apple of God’s eye”, for he looks at us and loves us each so individually.

But He does expect that we live, move and have our being in Him.

This means that our thoughts and deeds spring from the spirit within and not from our own selfish desires. We have to allow this to be our primary response to the world or we will only reflect back what the world already expects. It is when we reflect back Christ people see what truly makes our lives different. What separates us from the world. That is why our scripture starts with “or in Him we live”.

I may write on and belabor this point, possibly, too much. But I do so as much or more for myself as for any other. Because I know all too well the darkness that lives in me that only Christ light can push back. I know that only by living in Him and living for Him that I am my best, that others see Him first and me a distant second. And in this I desire to live and move and have my being.
