24 And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, 25 not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25 CSB)
Are you someone who believes that they are better when they worship alone? A person who neglects the Church for personal quiet time? Maybe you have searched for a place to worship but just have not found anywhere that you felt a part. Maybe you are just one of the many church-hurt people walking the earth.
It is also easy, in a busy life, to just not make time for church. And before we go to far, church does not have to be some big building filled with hundreds or thousands. No, it can be a very small gathering in a home somewhere. But the important part of “church” is not neglecting coming together with others in the faith.
The Bible states many times how important the concept of joint worship. Scripture talks about the church as the body of Christ, who’s members all play a critical part, each with their own unique gift.
I am a part of two churches. A larger community church and a church fellowship that is much smaller. I served as a teacher for many years in the larger church and have had various responsibilities at the smaller church. Each fills a need in my life and in the body of Christ regarding both joint and personal worship as prescribed in scripture.
Making time to come together with others in the faith is so very important. We gain so much from being together that we cannot gain when we worship alone. In fact I would go so far as to say that we are not properly worshiping if we are only doing so alone. Community is meant to be experienced together.
