1 “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe[a] in God; believe also in me. (John 14:1 CSB)
Where do you put your trust?
No, really, where?
Is it in your own hand? Is it in your wealth? Your security? Your connections and relationships?
All of these are fleeting. Only God is constant.
But many do not believe this fully. Their hearts are troubled because they have not seen God. They have not experienced His loving grace or his long suffering ways. They know what is in front of them and what they have experienced, and that may now be or have been traumatic.
We cannot diminish others pain and lives that have been less than stellar. But God still loves and He does not want our hearts to be troubled. He wants us living a life dependent upon His grace and love, not on our own capabilities.
Belief in the unseen is a study in trust. It is being untroubled about the events unfolding around us and leaning fully upon the Lord. It is knowing that Christ is there for us no matter what. But these are just words, they do not fill bank accounts, heal wounds or fix relationships. Maybe not, but they do have restorative power, and in many cases God does fill the account, heal the heart and fix the relationship.
It is moving from just the words to total trust.
