Known and Unknown

3 See what great love[a] the Father has given us that we should be called God’s children—and we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it didn’t know him. (1 John 3:1 CSB)

Do you ever get the feeling that the world just does not get you? Well, good then, maybe you are on the right path.

You see the world may not “know” us because it did not/does not “know” Christ. As children of Christ, when we take on His being the world may shun us and pretend not to know us. But the reality is that the world and the evil one are seeking to undermine us and tear us down. It is when we stand firm, an unrelenting force, that the world may simply turn its back upon you.

Being unknown on one side means you are well known on another. In this instance we should then be well known by the body of Christ and the heavenly realm. We become creatures of light and the darkness no longer knows us, but in the light we too shine.

This speaks to the deeper spiritual things beyond this earthly plain, and many do not seek to know of these things. It can make people uncomfortable speaking in this way. They may be faithful people but anything beyond what is before them, like truly understanding this level of knowing and being unknown is uncomfortable.

But it is just this that we must become comfortable with. “ For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
