Shrewd & Innocent

For some people, who were designated for this judgment long ago,[a] have come in by stealth; they are ungodly, turning the grace of our God into sensuality and denying Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord. (Jude 1:4 CSB)

I have always been a very straight forward guy. If I have an issue with you I will let you know. I would hope that if you have an issue with me, you would let me know. I do desire confrontation, but I also do not avoid it.

However, far to often in so many ways in life people ”come in by stealth”. Meaning they seek to undermine, back bite, and cause trouble in other ways. I have no use for people like this. In fact I will try to find some way to come to agreement, but if I cannot I will give them the gift of goodby.

In religious circles I have often encountered those who wish to create upheaval and sow discord. Sometimes they are actually well meaning but misguided. Other times it is a malicious attack that seeks to disrupt the very course of any ministry effort.

We know that the enemy seeks to find any way he can to disrupt our lives and any peace we might find. He too seeks to disrupt any effort toward our unity as believers and we are in a constant battle with the powers and principalities of this world.

When encountered this must be countered. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.
