East from West

10 He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve
or repaid us according to our iniquities.

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his faithful love
toward those who fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed
our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:10-12 CSB)

Just how far is the east from the west?

Kinda hard to measure isn’t it. No matter how far you go in one of those directions it is further away.

But this is how great God’s love for you is. He has removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west.

It is a surpassing grace that God does not deal with us as our sins deserve. We take this for granted most of the time I would venture. But it should be on our mind every time we sin. Even in the small omissions which are seen the same as greater sin, our salvation through Christ removes them from us as far as the east is from the west.

If we take the briefest moment to consider just what we truly deserve based upon our sins we would be mortified. But we go about our day sinning in many ways and never think twice. Sadly, this is part of living in a fallen world under the curse of sin. This and the fact that our enemy continually whitewashes everything God calls sin and repackages it as pleasure.

If we ever took a day and infused the presence of God into every moment, then looked at the day before, we would most likely be shocked at the difference.
