Never Forgotten

15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child,
or lack compassion for the child of her womb?
Even if these forget,
yet I will not forget you.
16 Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me. (Isaiah 49:15-16 CSB)

Do you easily forget things? I do, but I have a system of writing things down so that I have something to come back to. As a parent, do you ever forget your child? Its pretty doubtful that you have.

In our scripture today, God is showing us just how much he loves us. We are inscribed on the palms of His hands. Through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, we are never forgotten and written in His very skin. Our walls are ever before Him. Meaning that He is ever watchful of all aspects of our lives, every ”wall” or that which hims us in on every side.

To some this may feel confining, but it is not like that. God does not want our walls to confine us but to free and liberate us. To provide the security of His protection while we go about our lives, living it for Him.

We may feel that God’s watchfulness is scrutiny, but in reality it is simply the love of a parent for a child. A love that desires to protect us and keep us from the harm that we can bring to our own lives through our sinful nature.

You are never forgotten.
