14 With your hand, Lord, save me from men,
from men of the world
whose portion is in this life:
You fill their bellies with what you have in store;
their sons are satisfied,
and they leave their surplus to their children.
15 But I will see your face in righteousness;
when I awake, I will be satisfied with your presence. (Psalm 17:14-15 CSB)
Do you ever look at others and wonder at how, even though they seem to have no care for God or a faith life, everything seems perfect for them? How their portion seems to be full while ours feels empty.
But we see only the surface. We have no idea what lies just beneath and just how needful these people are. You see, there is little true satisfaction without God. And what there is, is fleeting. It is temporary and temporal.
This is from Percy C. Ainsworth, ”We never know when we shall be called to give account of our stewardship of life’s hidden things. God has so many ways of trying us, that it may stand revealed what manner of people we (truly) are…between those who gather the true significance of life and those who miss it.”
Never underestimate the hidden things. Everyone needs God and our stewardship is to the Great Commission.
