Not Feeling It

11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be[a] children of God, to those who believe in his name, (John 1:11-12 CSB)

Have you ever encountered a situation where you were not received well? You show up and you realize that even though these should be people who accept you, you are not feeling it from them. You just know, down deep, that no one wants you there.

This is a horrible feeling. Far too often many have these feelings due to low self-esteem, depression or other mental maladies. But sometimes the feeling is real. We just do not belong for one reason or another.

Christ knows how you feel. He came to a people he was born into, culturally, and they shunned him. More than that, they ultimately killed him. But his death by their hands was to all humanity’s benefit.

We can know that when we come to faith in Christ, He will never shun us, He will never make us feel like we are not His own. Even when our Christian brothers turn aside, Christ will not.

We can face this life, no matter what, with the assurance that Christ will never leave nor forsake us. You are His forever!
