9 “Woe to the one who argues with his Maker—
one clay pot among many.
Does clay say to the one forming it,
‘What are you making?’
Or does your work say,
‘He has no hands’? (Isaiah 45:9 CSB)
We are being made, daily, into the vessel God has planned for us. The Potter forms the clay and does not put it in to be fired in a kiln until the vessel is ready. Thus, in the process of molding we must remain pliable and then we must expect to be hardened in the fires.
Scripture uses the analogy of the potter numerous times, and it is very apt for our lives. God is continually molding us and we may often find ourselves in a refining fire. This is a process we will go encounter throughout our faith lives.
What we must be assured of is that what God is forming us for is into a vessel that does not hold the world, but holds eternity. One that does not hold hate, but overflows with love. He is not looking for us to be glasses half full, but to be completely filled with Christ.
Thus, we need to consider what we are consuming daily. What are we filling ourselves with? Are we allowing the enemy to tempt us into consuming, and thus filling ourselves, with things of this world? Or are we consuming scripture and speaking prayer to our Father so that we may be properly formed and filled?
