43 Summoning his disciples, he said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 For they all gave out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had —all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:43-44 CSB)
Where do you give from? Do you give from your surplus or out of your poverty?
I have no idea where you are today in regards to your wealth. Maybe you have much to give, maybe you have little. The same could be asked of your time or your talents. Are you using any of these things for the Kingdom of God? Or do you hold tightly on to everything extra you have?
With the cost of everything skyrocketing and the demands upon our time, I get that you feel there may be little to give. But I have said it before, you cannot out give God and He is faithful especially when we are faithful.
Look, I am not trying to guilt you into anything. God loves a cheerful giver. What we need to consider is if we are giving From our surplus or our poverty? And these things mean something different to us all. They are viewed from the place we are and how we view our gifts. Someone may be very wealthy but in a place of spiritual poverty. It is the place we are that God sees most clearly and the heart from which we give.
