4 Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness[a] of life. (Romans 6:4 CSB)
Life gets old. We become creatures of habit. Routine becomes repetitive. We find that days, weeks and years just stream by like water through our hands. Suddenly, the kids are grown, careers come to an end, we find ourselves…old.
So how can we walk in the newness of life?
Well, we need to heed our scripture today. While baptism is the outward display of our death with Christ and to sin. But what we find as life goes on is that we must die to sin daily. We must routinely learn to look at each day anew and be open and accepting to the wonder of the world around us.
The newness of life must be embraced so that we live life and life does not live us. Life, and the enemy, will drag us down into the routine of our lives which can lead to depression, burnout and frustration. This will bleed over into our faith lives and this ie exactly what the enemy wants. He wants to beat us down with life.
It is here where we need to get out of our routine and be open to new things in life and ask for new leadings from God.
