⁴ The Lord has prepared everything for his purpose—
even the wicked for the day of disaster (Proverbs 16:4 CSB)

This can be a stumbling block for some. The fact that God even prepares the wicked for the day of disaster. The question becomes, how can a loving God do this?

We want control and we do not want to think that God’s ultimate control can trump our expectations. God is a loving god, but His ways are higher than ours and we cannot fathom His eternal plans in our very finite minds.

Furthermore, there is a battle waging for this world and each of us on it. The enemy has great control (not ultimate control) and is continually working against the powers of good. Make no mistake, we are in a fight every day and this requires that we stand our ground and stand against his schemes. This scripture does not say that we must succumb to the wicked, just that they are prepared for the day. It may well be that God has prepared them to prove that he is sovereign and further solidify our faith.

It is very difficult to find words that can even begin to express or provide commentary on God’s sovereign ways. We must simply read scripture and pray that God will open our minds to understanding.
