The Fullness of Life

12 Who is someone who desires life,
loving a long life to enjoy what is good? (Psalm 34:12 CSB)

What does it mean to desire life?

We typically equate this to worldly success and living a full life. There is nothing wrong with desiring a successful and full life. But maybe we need to more closely assess what a successful and full life really is.

We have some time as we move into the end of the year to take some time to really assess life. This should not be meant as writing down some New Year’s resolutions that we will have forgotten in a month. No, it should be a deep contemplation on the fullness of life.

Full lives are filled with more than money and things. A full life is filled with people and experiences. It is an interaction at an intimate level with God and others.

Too often when we assess this we find we are living a superficial life. One filled with business but no depth. Fullness is built upon depth far more than breadth. Yet, we tend to focus upon the breadth.

The depth is what moves us into the second part of our scripture, loving a long life to enjoy what is good.

We do not want to look back and we find we have enjoyed only the shallow end of life and never ventured into the deep end of life’s pool.
