Who are we to…

13 Who has directed[a] the Spirit of the Lord,
or who gave him counsel?
14 Who did he consult?
Who gave him understanding
and taught him the paths of justice?
Who taught him knowledge
and showed him the way of understanding? (Isaiah 40:13-14 CSB)

The concept of an all-knowing, all-powerful God is simply beyond our understanding. Many get hung up on why a good God would allow bad things to happen.

But who are we to question? Who are we to give God counsel?

No, our understanding does not extend beyond our senses. We like to think we can reason our way out or through a situation, or we can make things happen. But we can do little more than move our bodies. This is why so much counseling and psychology focus upon that which we have control over: ourselves.

Thus, when we think we need to school God in what should be happen we should take care. We rarely know what is best, we typically only know what we think is best for us. Only God truly understands all of the ramifications of our actions. He knows every thread of reality that has, is or could happen.

This is why reading the scriptures and praying is so very important. It is through these two avenues we have the ability to understand who God is and what His plan for us might be. We can begin to sense that which is beyond our senses and touch on understanding God.
