1 Cast your bread on the surface of the water,
for after many days you may find it. Ecclesiastes 11:1 CSB)
Have you ever cast your bread upon the water? Another scripture speaks of putting your fleece out. Both are looking for answers from God when we are at a loss on what to do next.
God is very faithful. When I have have had times where I needed to decide upon something but was unsure my next move I have cast my bread upon the water. Now, not literally, but figuratively.
By setting up a scenario where God can open a door or close it, He can make it clear the way that lies within His plan. Now, God’s open doors can also multiply. I had this happen recently. When I thought God was directing me down one path, suddenly another door I thought was closed opened wide.
Sometimes when we cast our bread upon the water it is not the only thing God sends back. Sometimes He sends the bread truck. These can be very confusing times. But what I have found is that while staring at all the possibilities He creates there will be one that the Holy Spirit will nudge us toward.
Free will is a tricky thing. This is where the Holy Spirit’s guiding, good godly friends counsel and a heavy dose of prayer really comes in handy. Additionally, God wants us to grow through this process. He is looking for us to give our will completely over to Him.
