12 The night is nearly over, and the day is near; so let us discard the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. (Romans 13:12 CSB)
We have no idea how much time we have on this earth. But what we do know is that our life here is but a wisp of smoke, merely a vapor in time. And while it seems at times to drag on and on, our time is truly limited.
Thus, should we not be on about the Lords work? With our limited time we need to stay out of the darkness and focus our attention on acts which further the Kingdom.
Often people seem lost as to exactly what this work might be. They are not missionaries or preachers so they feel that they have no place in Kingdom work. But each of us has our part to play.
Part of my personal mission statement is “to shine on all I meet”, which comes from my life verse of Luke 1:79. Some days just making a point to be kind to all I meet is my way of furthering the Kingdom and showing Jesus love.
Regardless, we must work as if our time is as truly short as it is. We do not know what tomorrow will bring.
