Don’t Know Where I’m Goin

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8 CSB)

Life takes us down many varied paths. Some that we are ready for and many that we are not. However, if we have strong faith we can know that God is laying out the right path for our lives. The key is knowing which way He wants us to go.

Many, myself included, struggle at times with understanding what God wants us to do. Far too often we are trying to work out the details ourselves. And in doing so we can find ourselves contending with God and not accepting His good plan.

Discernment is maybe one of the most difficult aspects of a life of faith. Trying to discern between what is our desire and what is a desire given us by God can be a difficult task.

I have found three ways to best understand God’s desire for my life;

  • Prayer
  • Scripture reading
  • Godly friends to reason with

But even when we do not know where we are going, we can rest in our faith and allow God to simply lead.
