⁵ That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome^[a] it. (John 1:5 CSB)

The light is not being overcome. Even though it may seem so at times in our difficult world, the light is always overcoming the darkness.

In many ways the fight between light and darkness is always being fought. Whether it is within us or within the world the tug-of-war between the two exist because we live in a fallen world.

At times darkness may overwhelm the light but the light will always break free. It shines forth from within the darkness sometimes with burst and sometimes with small acts which push it back gradually.

Whether it is within us or within our realm of influence, we cannot allow the darkness to win out. We must each moment press back upon ourselves and the world to let Christ light shine.

Even if it is in ever so small ways.
