8 …Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. (1 Corinthians 8:1c CSB)
We know that knowledge is a good thing. But love is better. While knowledge can have positive effects when utilized properly, love pretty much always has a positive impact.
We have to ask ourselves if when we expand our knowledge it provides the opportunity to expand our love. Does the gaining of knowledge give us the ability to love more or simply create a means to an end for, predominantly, our bank account.
You see, the deposits we need to be making are those in the love account. Yes, there is value in investing in the knowledge account. This is especially true when we are are gaining knowledge from scripture, which will help us minister to others.
However, we must guard against knowledge puffing us up and making us arrogant. This is why love is the better choice.
