25 Don’t fear sudden danger
or the ruin of the wicked when it comes,
26 for the Lord will be your confidence[a]
and will keep your foot from a snare. (Proverbs 3:25-26 CSB)
Sudden things happen in life and we are taken unawares. This is the way of life, it is unpredictable.
Job loss, bad diagnosis, accidents, falls, bumps, bruises, and sudden changes in our situation are cause for fear….when they happen. This is a natural response. What is not a natural response is the worry and anxiety we feel from expecting things to happen.
We want control that we do not have.
But what we can have is confidence. Confidence that the Lord is there for us no matter what.
I have lived, now after 59 years, through a lot. I look back and see a life paved with a lot of good years and some really bad ones. I have experienced extremely high, highs and extremely low, lows. What I have learned through all of those is to keep my eyes on God and stay in motion. We often times either get immobilized with fear or we become complacent in success. Both can cause us many problems.
Take life neither for granted nor as an affront to what we think should be happening. Life will fool us on both fronts if we let it. Accept life as it comes and keep your confidence in Christ.
