13 keep your servant from willful sins;
do not let them rule me.
Then I will be blameless
and cleansed from blatant rebellion.
14 May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to you,
Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:13-14 CSB)
This scripture is one of my life verses. They are two that remind me that I am willful and rebellious man, but that God takes those sins away. It is only through His help that I have any hope to not be ruled by them and to be cleansed.
It reminds me that I need to be mindful of what I say and how I feel about any situation, for my insight is narrow and governed by my low desires. That I should look to God, my Rock and Redeemer, for what is acceptable and speak and meditate on those things that are of a higher design.
Scripture can be our doorway to living a life that is better and more directed by God if we will allow it. Too often we read the words but do not act upon the message. The become an academic endeavor, something for the head and not the heart.
Christ knew the mind and the tongue were the most easily snared and manipulated. It is only when we seek with our heart and soul first that the mind and tongue can be properly governed.
