16 Rejoice always, 17 pray constantly, 18 give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 CSB)
Rejoice, pray and give thanks.
This should be our daily mantra. Each gives way to the other in our communication with God.
It may often seem in this broken world that there is very little cause to rejoice or give thanks. However, if only for our salvation through Christ, we have much to be thankful for. We have much to strive for upon this earth.
Our scripture tells us to do this as it is “God’s will for you (us) in Christ Jesus”.
This is pointing us to not only how God expects us to live but also to the fact that he is preparing a way for us in life. He is wanting us to build a pattern around our love for Christ that guides our path to living “in Christ”.
The word “in” is pivotal here. It represents a life lived from the inside out. Beginning with the indwelling of the Spirit and flowing outwardly to all aspects of our lives.
When we live “in Christ”, we live from a point of Spiritual guidance.
