Showing Forgiveness

14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. (Matthew 6:14 NKJV)

The easiest thing in the world is to be mad and hold a grudge. It is far more difficult to forgive, but this is what we are called on a believers to do. To set our petty grievances aside and look at the bigger picture. It could be that the person who wronged you has far more need for the mercy of forgiveness that we could ever imagine.

People walk through this life wounded, afraid and angry. We never truly know anyone’s complete circumstances. Thus, we need to be quick to grace and mercy and not let our own feelings drive what could be a divine appointment. God puts us in positions of conflict so that we can show His grace and mercy. In this way others see something different in us and may at some point come to ask the question, why? This opens an opportunity to tell God’s story and how He has worked in our life.

Not every request for forgiveness is just to show God that we understand where His mercies extend only with us. Some are to show someone else Gods mercy for them.

Reflect on: That person you need to forgive and show God’s mercy through your life.
