Take the Test

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless you fail the test. (2 Corinthians 13:5 CSB0

Do you ever test your yourself in the faith?

I expect few of us do. Mainly because we probably fear a deep examination of our faith. We know that under close scrutiny much that we preach we do not practice.

When we sit down to do a deep examination of our faith life we must use the right test material. The scriptures are here not simply as a guide but as that test material. To be used as a mirror to look deeply at our lives to assure us that we are living a life of faith.

The problem with this is we are all so tied up in our day to day lives that any close inspection breaks down quickly. In fact the first two scriptural questions we should ask ourselves are;

Do we love the Lord our God with all our hearts, all our spirit and all of our mind?

Second, do we love our neighbor as ourselves?

Scripture says these are the two greatest commandments.

Then we should ask ourselves how we are fulfilling the great commission?

For in truth, it is in these three questions that the greatest test of our faith is answered.
