The Old Ways

22 to take off[a] your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires (Ephesians 4:22 CSB)

In many ways we can find that the old ways are the better ways. This is as it comes to life. However, when we consider our old ways, often, we find that they are not so great. Thd old self continues to be corrupted by deceitful desires. In this case the old ways are not better.

When I think of the old ways I am typically not thinking about myself. I want to continually be on a path to improvement and renewal. The old ways, for me personally, my attitudes, thoughts and actions, are not necessarily the best ways. What I refer to in the old ways that are better comes from traditions, and a life that is marked more by truth, justice and a way of approaching life more simply.

This may seem confusing as we have to putt of the old and put on the new. However, what I am speaking of is putting off our old ways and habits, even when we may be adopting an older way, a biblical way, of doing or being. In many ways the path ahead lies in the distant path. By adopting a more traditional biblical way we may find that we actually open the door to becoming a new creature.
