9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your[a] Creator. (Colossians 3:9-10 CSB)
Most of us begin the new year with some form of resolution or goal. We typically want to improve something over the previous year or years.
But then, very quickly, we begin to lie to ourselves about our progress making it more than it is. We quickly begin to hedge our bets on what we have resolved to do.
To start anew, we must begin not with a resolution but a fixed goal and plan. Most importantly we also need to engage God in what we plan to make sure it is in His plan.
Once we have these things aligned, we can know we are on the road to start anew.
