7 A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: 8 to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, 9 to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues,[a] to another, interpretation of tongues. 11 One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills. Spiritual gifts comes up from time to time in discussions I have. The church went through a few years where it wore out all the test you would take around finding your spiritual gift.
I am sure that these were good things for some, but if you are like me, test rarely tell the exact story. Test try to interpret outcomes from the data entered.
I find prayer, Godly direction and organic growth to answer this question best.
God may press us toward something we are not necessarily comfortable doing, He may want to stretch us. Furthermore, I find that God rarely gives us goals that are obtainable by ourselves. He opts more for putting us in places where His hand is absolutely needed. He wants us to give Him the glory for what we are doing and if we can do it alone that may not happen.
Yes, we typically gravitate toward that which we enjoy doing the most and this is how we should feel about the gift we are given. This is no Father’s Day tie we are being given, this is a gift we are to look forward to using even in the difficulty of doing it.
The year is drawing to a close and this was one that needed more angels than ever before. Maybe you felt that deep calling to do more and search out those in need. Maybe it is time to use your gift.
