In It

2 Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. (Colossians 4:2 CSB)

This year may seem to be one where thanksgiving is the furtherest thing from our mind. For many it has been a year of almost constant concern and filled with misgiving.

However, you made it this far!

I know many haven’t, and I want to be sensitive to that, but those of us who have should give thanks.

If you are anything like me you too have spent more time in prayer this year. If not for yourselves, possibly for others who have been in desperate need.

Thus, it is the middle of this scripture that I want to focus upon the most. We, with all of our concerns for ourselves and others, can lose our edge due to this constant weight. Concerns turn into worry and we lose our ability to stay alert and in the moment. This is one of the most important parts of today’s scripture.

Because it tells us to “stay alert in it” not in front of it, or behind it but while we are in it. Living the moment and expressing thanksgiving in the moment we have.

Stay “in it” today and savor each moment giving God thanks for the fact that he gave you this moment to live.
