21 Then Elijah approached all the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions?[a] If the Lord is God, follow him. But if Baal, follow him.” But the people didn’t answer him a word. (1 Kings 18:21 CSB)
Think about the word waver. It immediately brings to mind someone who is unsure. Someone who cannot makE up their mind so they waver between this and that.
Then again there is a balance between rash decisions and thoughtful regard to our options. A good businessman will weigh his options.
But, when it comes to things of faith we cannot be of two minds. We cannot waver between what God wants and what we want. In this regard there can be no hesitation. We do not rationalize our desires over God’s. If God’s way is clear, that is the path we take. And when it is unclear we bathe the decision in prayer.
You will find that if you go to God with our decisions and do not waver on our belief that He will guide us, the way will be revealed.
