The last few weeks have had me reflecting on how I spend my time, and the time I have left to spend.
1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven: (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Go read Ecclesiastes 2-8. It speaks to there being a time for every purpose under heaven as the intro verse says. Our lives are about seasons, just like the world running on seasons. If you live long enough you can look back and clearly see them play out just like the turning of the earth’s seasons. The problem is that we often miss the seasons we are in because we are so wrapped up in what is going on at that time. The other problem we have is that we often simply want to rush the season because we do not like where we find ourselves. We do so without realizing the lesson that season brings to our lives.
The seasons of life look very different to me now than they did when I was much younger. When you are young there seems to be this infinite pool of time for you to use. When you get older you realize that the pool only goes so deep. There is also the ravages of some of these seasons on our mind and body. I believe that only the spirit is able to avoid the toll they levy, and that only if we have that spirit firmly fixed upon God.
The most valuable thing we can do is not let our seasons play out without our own influence upon them. We need to take each in hand, offer it up to God and ask, “What do I do with this for You and where would You have been be next?”
Reflect on: The seasons of your life, where you are now and where you want to be. How does your current season play out into the next?
