28 Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace;
When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive. (Proverbs 17:28 NKJV)
I may relate to this verse more than I really want to, as I am learning to be quiet and hold my peace better as I get older. However, I think that is a good thing. The old saying fits here well, “Better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
We do not have to have every solution. It is good to let others come up with their own conclusions and provide only gentle nudges in the right direction. This does a few things. It builds skills, it builds confidence and it allows others to come up with their own conclusions without us having to sprinkle our knowledge where it may not necessarily be needed.
We often think too much of our own opinion and in doing so feel like we always have to have the solution. Truthfully, it is best to let others come to their own conclusions and only offer advice when it is asked.
Reflect on: How much you sprinkle your knowledge and if it is truly needed.
