16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. (Galatians 5:16-17 ESV)
What does it mean to walk by the Spirit?
Take a moment and really think about what this means to you and in your life.
When we accept Christ, scripture tells us, we are indwelled by the Spirit. I think, if we are honest, we may not be able to well define what this means to us in the day to day. The Spirit is a subtle inner voice of reason. He is a subtle conscious that questions our actions if they are contrary to God’s plans. Seeking to maintain an intentional awareness of His presence can help us to keep to His guidance and God’s plan.
Walking by the Spirit helps us to keep from the desires of the flesh, which oppose each other. Paul wrote extensively about not doing the things he wanted to do, but doing that which he did not. Meaning he struggled like we do.
Reflect on: The Spirit throughout your day. Consider His counsel in everything and see what transpires.
