5 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Psalm 103:5 ESV)
If you are anything like me the weeks get long and responsibilities stack up. We get older, but the energy requirement does not diminish. If anything, it only increases.
I have rushed around like a madman in my life both in my career and trying to deal with family responsibilities. Do you know what I realized from all that rushing about? That it is only in slowing down that we take any control over our lives.
It is counterintuitive to think, when we have too many responsibilities stacked on us, that slowing down will accomplish anything faster. But it does. I believe there is a twofold reason for this. First, it gives us time to give our responsibilities to God so that He is involved more in our lives. Second, it allows for focus that accomplishes singular task faster so that the overall outcome speeds up.
I can tell you from first hand experience that when I stop and take a beat, lift up my hectic schedule and responsibilities to God, He is there. He helps me calm my mind and truly focus on what needs to be done. The peace that follows allows me to see more clearly and be more efficient.
Calm efficiency trumps hectic flailing.
