5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5 ESV)
I have not written on this verse in a while and it is one that I truly love. The picture it paints of how our relationship with God should be is one that, I believe, has so much to be mined. The imagery of the vine and the branches, bearing fruit, our dependence on God and our need to abide in Him. You can literally get most of what you need about a relationship with God from this.
When we make a point to truly abide in Him, we clearly see that nothing good comes apart from Him. It begins to change our viewpoint and we can understand how He truly is the vine and see ourselves as branches bearing good fruit by what He gives us the power to do.
Reflect on: This little verse of scripture and its deep meaning in your life.
