3 Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. 4 I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying, “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. (Daniel 9:3-5 ESV)
I feel like we, as a country, need to pray this prayer daily until we see things improve. Our national unrest often mirrors our personal unrest. We are in need of mercy, but often times we do not realize that we need to confess and repent from our wrong doing. We need to turn our face to God.
I often get a sense that we are living in the end times and should be more aware of our words and actions. Not that we should not be doing so regularly as people of faith. Are we acting out our Christian roles while we are here on earth? As has been said by so many others, no one reaches the end of their lives wishing they had spent more time at work, or tending to the small things in life. God has a much bigger task for us all.
Reflect on: Do you, like I, need to turn your face to the Lord God more, and to the world less.
