Not in Vein

14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. (Philippians 2:14-16 ESV)

Do you ever wonder if what you are doing, be it in life in general, your career or your spiritual life is simply in vain?

We all go through doubts. Many a person has changed the entire course of their lives because the road they were on was not fulfilling. People start over, some time for selfish reasons, some time for very good reasons indeed. But with our spiritual life, our life in and with God, we should only look toward growth. This life we never live in vein, there is always purpose in what we do for God, even when we are not 100% sure what that is.

The reality is that we do grumble about many things in this life. We become disheartened and what change. And the world will quickly accommodate. It has many paths we can go down, but in reality there are only a few that are the right paths. This is where holding fast to the word of life can help. By focusing upon God and allowing Him to lead we can find the path that is in His plan. We must then be steadfast in our clinging to the way God is leading.

Nothing we do for God is in vein.
