14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:14-15 ESV)
Christ can sympathize with everything we are going through. That may seem to be a stretch, but scripture is clear on this. We my not clearly believe that a heavenly God can relate to all of the pains, temptations and frustrations that plague mankind. We may want to think that because He was not here in this modern world He cannot relate. But the basic pains and weaknesses of mankind have truly not changed.
The modern world, with all its technology and speed only means that weaknesses are more greatly exploited. We have, since Christ time on earth, only compounded that which can cause us pain. The pain we experience is the same, only there are many more available ways for the enemy to exploit our weaknesses.
So the next time you feel alone in your pain and weakness, know Christ knows exactly how it feels and can sympathize.
