1 But as for you, teach what accords with sound[a]doctrine. (Titus 2:1 ESV)
How do we live, much less teach, what accords with sound doctrine?
Well, we must have a sound worse for sound doctrine and God gave us this with the Bible. Now, as you may have noticed I take most of my scripture from the English Standard Version. I use this translation as it aiming for a balance between word-for-word accuracy and clarity in modern English. I find that it provides what I am looking for as my source of sound doctrine.
There are many translations and one must determine which version works best for them. Not all seek a word-for-word balance with common language, and this may not be important to you. However, do not go so far afield that the translation you are using does not convey Gods message in a way that is both understandable and close to the literal translation.
Reflect on: Exactly what the translation of doctrine you use is teaching you.
