Not Condemned

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. (John 3:17-18 ESV)

Just beyond the most pivotal verse in scripture are two more that point back to it that are pivotal in their own right. For beyond the personal saving grace of John 3:16 we see that Jesus did not only die for us, but that the entire world might be saved through Him. Through this saving grace we are not condemned, but without it we already are. That should be sobering.

“God so loved the world” that He did not even spare His own Son. No other religion on the earth has this type of saving grace. There is nothing we can do to earn it, it is freely given. We must only come to God in our brokenness and believe.

Reflect on: The wonderful gift of salvation and how you are manifesting it in your life.
