17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.[a] The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)
As I get a bit older, more and more I feel less and less like a new creation. Not just that I am feeling it in my body, but that I am more familiar with just where remaining sin lies in my life. As Paul said, “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.”
Living a good Christian life is not easy. It should be, but so many things are against us. Our own nature is that of the sinful man. The world and the enemy throw everything bad at us and our technology affords every distraction.
What I have found is what I must do is get out in God’s creation and enjoy the simple beauty of the world around me. Time away from screens and the everyday pressures of life are what we need. Silence, solitude and time in nature can bring us back in alignment with God.
Reflect on: The last time you were alone in nature with God. Allowing His creation to speak to you directly.
